Tim spent his professional career with Kleinwort Benson, one of the leading London based international investment banks. He was successively head of Corporate Finance, Deputy Chief Executive and Vice-Chairman of the group, retiring in 2000.
He led the teams advising the UK Government on the privatisations of British Aerospace (now BAE Systems), Cable & Wireless, British Telecom (until his secondment as Director General of the panel on Takeovers and Mergers) and the Electricity Industry in England and Wales. He also advised on a number of significant IPOs and M&A transactions. As Vice-Chairman he chaired the Bank’s Assets and Liabilities Committees and the Risk Committee which approved significant underwriting and credit transactions and which allocated trading limits.
Since then, Tim has served as Chairman or Non-Executive Director on a number of Company Boards, including Robert Walters plc (Chairman), Electrocomponents plc (Senior Independent Director) and Drax Group plc (Senior Independent Director).
Tim is a graduate of Cambridge University with an MA in Economics.
